Common Twayblade

Latin Name:

Neottia ovata

Manx Name:

lus y daa ghuillag

May - August

Locations where this species is found:
Ballaugh Curraghs Close Sartfield

While not as colorful as most, this flower is actually an orchid. It is found in the Ballaugh curraghs, particulary at the Close Sartfield nature reserve.

The Manx name for this flower is "lus y daa ghuillag", which means "plant of two leaves". This is probably a reference to the fact that the plant's leaves grow in pairs.
