This plant grows on the surface of water. Like other crowfoots its small flowers are easily missed and it can be hidden amongst other foliage.

This particular type of crowfoot is common only in the north of the island and on the Calf of Man, but other crowfoots can be found across the island, particularly the Round-leaved Water Crowfoot (Ranunculus omiophyllus).

The Manx name for this plant is "Neeal-ushtey cadjin".
